The Usseglio family first began making wine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape after World War II, and their first vintage was released in 1949. They have since converted their vineyards to organic and biodynamic certified. This NV Vin de France is primarily declassified organic and biodynamic fruit from plots in and outside the classified Rhône appellations and blends 60% grenache noir, 10% syrah, 10% mourvèdre, 10% clairette blanche, 5% caladoc, and 5% other assorted white grapes. It was fermented and aged in concrete. Ripe and cushy blackberry, plum, and mulberry fill the medium+ palate, with soft tannins to frame and ample baking spice throughout. A friendly, welcoming CdR, well suited to grilled sausages and veg.

From the southern reaches of the Rhône Valley, Stéphane Usseglio crafts wines that combine deep family heritage with a contemporary focus on purity and drinkability. As part of the renowned Usseglio winemaking lineage of Châteauneuf du Pape, Stéphane has developed his own identity through thoughtful vineyard sourcing and a minimal intervention approach. Amandier Rouge is a vibrant Vin de France blend that highlights the generosity of southern Rhône varieties while maintaining freshness, aromatic lift and supple structure.

A deep ruby crimson glows in the glass with youthful energy. Aromas open with ripe raspberry, dark cherry and plum layered with hints of dried thyme, white pepper and a gentle earthy spice. There is an inviting warmth to the bouquet, balanced by a savoury thread that keeps the wine grounded and authentic.

The palate is medium bodied and flowing, delivering juicy red and dark berry fruit framed by soft tannins and lively acidity. Subtle notes of liquorice, spice and garrigue herbs emerge through the mid palate, leading to a smooth, persistent finish that feels both generous and refreshing. Designed for earlier enjoyment, it will drink beautifully over the next four to six years while retaining its bright fruit and easy charm.

Perfect for relaxed, flavour packed meals, it shines with grilled lamb skewers, roast chicken with Mediterranean herbs, ratatouille or charcuterie platters. Stéphane Usseglio Amandier Rouge captures the sunny spirit of the Rhône in an approachable, characterful style, ideal for long lunches, casual dinners and moments where good food and conversation take centre stage.
