2024 Tamar Ridge Pinot Noir, Tamar Valley

Tamar Ridge was established in 1994 with the initial planting of its home, the Kayena Vineyard in Tasmania’s Tamar Valley. Since 2010, the winery has been part of The Brown Family Wine Group, also known as producers of the Tasmanian wines from Devil’s Corner and the excellent Pirie sparkling wines, and Victoria-based Brown Brothers and Innocent Bystander.

The Kayena Vineyard is one of the most significant vineyards in Tasmania, stretching over 130 hectares. Pinot Noir dominates this site, with over twenty clones of the variety, followed by substantial amounts of Chardonnay and smaller blocks of Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling.

Substantial amounts of vineyards are additionally leased and managed across multiple sites in the valley, and fruit is occasionally sourced from the group’s other northern Tasmanian sites.

Tom Wallace leads the group’s Tasmanian winemaking, working closely with Ben Pietsch, his counterpart in the vineyards.
