2024 Thibaud Boudignon Anjou Blanc, Loire Valley

Thibaud Boudignon has become one of the Loire Valley's most sought after winemakers, earning a remarkable reputation for his beautifully crafted Chenin Blanc. Working from his estate in Anjou, he has brought renewed attention to the region through meticulous vineyard management and a commitment to expressing the character of each site. His Anjou Blanc is the perfect introduction to his wines, combining wonderful purity, texture and finesse.

Made entirely from Chenin Blanc, the 2024 reflects the cooler growing conditions of the vintage, with vibrant acidity and finely defined fruit. Boudignon's careful approach to farming and restrained use of oak allow the grape's natural character to emerge, creating a wine that is both immediately appealing and capable of rewarding time in the cellar.

Pale straw yellow with delicate golden reflections. Fresh quince, crisp pear and green apple mingle with lemon blossom, chamomile and a hint of wet stone. The palate is wonderfully energetic, with juicy orchard fruit, a fine waxy texture and mouthwatering citrus acidity. Subtle notes of almond, lemon peel and crushed rock carry through a long, gently saline finish.

Try it with Vietnamese turmeric fish and fresh dill, grilled cuttlefish with fennel and lemon, or roasted pumpkin with whipped feta and toasted pepitas. Its lovely balance of texture and freshness also makes it a terrific partner for a delicate crab and chive omelette.

Cellaring: Drink 2026 to 2035. Beautifully refreshing now, with the structure to develop greater honeyed and savoury complexity over the coming years.
