2025 Pascal Jolivet Sancerre Blanc Organic, Loire Valley

Beautiful aromatics with ripe pear and peach as well as some elderflower. The palate is beautifully nuanced, showing crystalline citrus fruit and some melon and pear richness, with very subtle green characters. There’s a grapefruit frill on the finish. This is really expressive and shows the riper side of Sancerre really well. Very fine. Lovely stuff.

Pascal Jolivet is one of the Loire Valley's best known names, having established his own wine business in 1987. Based in Sancerre, he has built a reputation for expressive Sauvignon Blanc that captures the region's freshness and distinctive mineral character. His organic Sancerre Blanc is a lovely example of the estate's philosophy, with purity of fruit and vineyard character taking centre stage.

The 2025 is made from organically grown Sauvignon Blanc, drawing on Sancerre's varied limestone, clay and flint soils. Careful winemaking preserves the grape's natural fragrance and lively acidity, creating a beautifully balanced white with plenty of regional personality.

Pale straw yellow with bright green reflections. Fresh grapefruit, lemon zest and white peach mingle with elderflower, fresh fennel and a hint of flint. The palate is crisp and finely textured, with juicy citrus, delicate stone fruit and refreshing acidity. A gentle chalky character and subtle herbal notes carry through a long, mouthwatering finish.

Try it with grilled prawns and green chilli dressing, asparagus and ricotta tart, or steamed snapper with ginger and coriander. Its citrus freshness also makes it a natural companion for fresh goat's cheese and seafood crudo.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2031. Particularly appealing for its youthful aromatics and bright citrus character, with scope for further savoury development.
