Maison Joseph Drouhin has been one of Burgundy's most respected family wine houses since 1880, with four generations dedicated to expressing the character of individual vineyards. Their organic Morgon takes that same thoughtful approach south to Beaujolais, where Gamay produces some of France's most charming and surprisingly ageworthy reds.
Morgon is one of the ten Beaujolais crus, celebrated for its distinctive granite influenced soils and wines with more structure and depth than typical Beaujolais. The 2025 captures Gamay's fragrant red fruit while retaining the savoury character and fine tannins that make Morgon so appealing.
Bright ruby red with vivid purple reflections. Fresh black cherry, wild raspberry and ripe strawberry mingle with violet, peony and a hint of cracked pepper. The palate is juicy and beautifully balanced, with succulent red berries, lively acidity and fine, gently grippy tannins. Notes of crushed stone, dried herbs and subtle earthy spice carry through a fragrant, satisfying finish.
Try it with duck and shiitake mushroom noodles, grilled tuna with tomato and olive salsa, or roasted beetroot with lentils and walnuts. It is also terrific with charcuterie and a little time in the fridge before serving.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2033. Lovely for its youthful fragrance, with the structure to develop more savoury complexity over time.
