Trinity Hill Chardonnay from Hawke’s Bay is a refined, textural white that perfectly captures the balance and vibrancy for which this acclaimed New Zealand region is known. Crafted by winemaker Warren Gibson, it reflects Trinity Hill’s philosophy of producing wines that are pure, expressive, and shaped by the character of their vineyard origins rather than heavy-handed winemaking. This Chardonnay is a beautiful expression of Hawke’s Bay fruit — elegant, gently complex, and full of cool-climate freshness.
The grapes are sourced from select vineyards in the cooler subregions of Hawke’s Bay, including the renowned Gimblett Gravels and coastal sites that bring natural acidity and brightness. The fruit is hand harvested and whole bunch pressed, with fermentation carried out in a mix of stainless steel and French oak barriques using both wild and cultured yeasts. Lees stirring and partial malolactic fermentation add texture and savoury depth, creating a seamless balance between fruit purity and richness.
In the glass it shines pale gold with green hues. The aroma is fresh and layered, revealing white peach, nectarine and citrus zest intertwined with notes of hazelnut, flint and gentle oak spice. The palate is creamy yet precise, with ripe stone fruit and lemon curd flavours supported by fine acidity and a mineral backbone. The finish is long, elegant and beautifully balanced — both refreshing and complex.
It pairs perfectly with seared scallops, roast chicken, creamy pasta with herbs, or grilled fish, and is also delicious with soft cheeses or risotto. Enjoy it now for its purity and charm, or cellar for up to eight years to develop subtle honeyed and nutty nuances.
