Vibrant pale yellow with green hues. White florals, citrus and green apple. Juicy minerality, subtle grapefruit, mandarin and citrus notes
The 2024 vintage was dry throughout the growing and ripening season which accelerated ripening and as a result we had an early harvest, achieving full fruit expression at a lower baumé, with balanced natural acidity it’s a great example of Riesling’s purity.
After being harvested from the Mason and Schubert family vineyards, the grapes were processed immediately to avoid extended skin contact. As is the Vickery way, winemaker Keeda Zilm also incorporated pressing- material in the final blend to add flavour and texture to the wine. The pressings cut is taken a lot earlier than normal to retain flavour without extracting bitter phenolics. The blend was fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel to maintain freshness.
John Vickery, the acknowledged old master of Riesling in Australia, had an illustrious career spanning nearly sixty years culminating in the extraordinary awards tally of more than fifty trophies and over four hundred gold medals. The Vickery Rieslings are more than just a legacy for John’s stellar career; it is the preservation of his special winemaking methods and his extraordinary knowledge of this noblest grape variety, that will be passed on for generations to come for the benefit of all lovers of classic Australian Riesling.
