Refined, mineral and precise aromas of grapefruit, lemon rind, crushed stones, struck match and citrus. The palate has electric acidity and a long line of tension leading into a mouthwatering finish. There’s real energy here with a touch of fruit concentration from the warm vintage. Set up for great aging. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

As always, a terrific go-to Margaret River chardonnay that ticks the lemon, grapefruit and white nectarine fruit boxes as much as the textural and spicy ones, too. Mouth-watering acidity takes centre stage on the palate with creamy lees, all nutty and nougat-like, adding to the pleasure of drinking this.

Xanadu Chardonnay from Margaret River is a polished, quietly powerful white that captures the region’s signature mix of sunshine, cool ocean breezes and beautifully expressive fruit. The estate’s vineyards sit close to the Indian Ocean, where long growing seasons and gravelly loam soils create Chardonnay with intensity and natural brightness. Winemaker Glenn Goodall has lifted Xanadu into the top echelon of Australian Chardonnay, working with hand picked fruit, whole bunch pressing, wild fermentation and maturation in fine French oak to build texture, savoury detail and precision. The style is modern Margaret River: layered yet refined, with oak as a supporting accent rather than the main act.
The aroma is inviting and complex. White peach, nectarine and lemon curd mingle with hints of pear skin and fresh citrus blossom. Subtle struck flint, almond meal and warm brioche reflect time on lees and high quality French oak. A cool coastal scent of wet stone and sea spray runs beneath the fruit, giving the bouquet clarity and lift.
The palate balances richness with drive. Stone fruit and citrus glide across a creamy, gently nutty mid palate, shaped by bright acidity that carries the wine in a long, energised line. Flavours of peach, grapefruit, nougat and fine spice unfold with quiet confidence, finishing with a mineral edge that leaves the mouth refreshed. It drinks beautifully now yet will develop gracefully for six to eight years, gaining honeyed and savoury notes while keeping its coastal freshness.
Perfect with roast chicken and tarragon, seared scallops, salmon with miso glaze, creamy vegetable dishes, lobster rolls or soft cheeses. A standout example of how Margaret River Chardonnay can combine finesse, texture and sunshine in one seamless glass.
