This is the younger vine bottling, coming mainly off vines planted in '08. Up to three weeks on skins; maturation in steel and old puncheons and foudre. This is a nice foil to the Old Vine bottling, showing what relatively youthful vines can do on this great site. There’s an open red-berried and cherry fruitfulness, with red florals supported by savoury spice and a foundation of purposeful natural tannin. This doesn’t have the mineral depth of the Old Vine, but the fruit vibrancy and exuberance yield their own rewards.

Yangarra Circle Grenache from McLaren Vale is an outstanding expression of one of the region’s most beloved grape varieties. Known for its warm Mediterranean climate and diverse terroir, McLaren Vale provides the perfect conditions for Grenache to thrive, producing wines with both richness and elegance. This Grenache is crafted by winemaker Peter Fraser, whose expertise in biodynamic and sustainable farming shines through in this fantastic offering. The wine has gained significant praise from critics, known for its exceptional value and its ability to showcase the true character of McLaren Vale’s Grenache.
The grapes are carefully handpicked from the estate’s biodynamic vineyards, where they benefit from the cooling breezes from the nearby coast, allowing the fruit to ripen slowly while maintaining vibrant acidity. The winemaking process is traditional, with minimal intervention to let the grapes express themselves. Fermentation occurs in a combination of small open fermenters and stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and purity, with maturation in a mix of old French oak barrels, which adds a subtle layer of complexity without overpowering the fruit.
A bright, ruby-red color. The nose is filled with enticing aromas of ripe red fruits—strawberry, raspberry, and cherry—alongside hints of spice, licorice, and a touch of dried herbs, all characteristic of the variety. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied, with smooth tannins and a balanced acidity that gives the wine freshness and structure. The red fruit flavors are vibrant and pure, with layers of complexity from the subtle oak, offering nuances of spice, vanilla, and a touch of earthiness. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving lingering fruit and spice notes.
Yangarra Circle Grenache offers incredible value for money, making it a fantastic choice for both casual drinkers and serious wine enthusiasts. It pairs beautifully with a variety of foods, from grilled meats like lamb or steak to charcuterie, roasted vegetables, and Mediterranean dishes such as pasta with tomato-based sauces. Whether you’re enjoying it on its own or pairing it with food, this Grenache delivers a fantastic wine experience that’s both accessible and memorable.
