Sumac and strawberries, paprika and lingonberries. Red fruit is taut and crunches with bursting acidity. A small portion of new oak adds some floral spice, potpourri and rose spray. Some Jarrah wood, cedar and red clay earth tones add further dimension. I find it so hard to fault the Yering Station line for its fruit purity, presence and price point. All is considered and makes for a harmonious drink, now and in the near future. This will show well in another 3-6 years further. Drink with simmered slices of thin pork in a cabbage and mushroom stew. Drink 2026 to 2032.

Matured in 500L French puncheons (13% new). Fruit from Yering, Coldstream and Gruyere. A light, bright crimson. A pretty wine with its bouquet of strawberry, raspberry, floral notes and cinnamon spice. There's good persistence, too, on the gently mouth-filling palate with supple, fine-grained tannins rounding out a wine to drink now and over the next four to six years. Drink 2025 to 2031.

94 points Philip Rich for Halliday Wine Companion, July 2025

Light-medium red-purple hue; reserved, meaty charcuterie bouquet. The palate is sweet at the core, with lovely ripe fruit and a touch of lusciousness. Fine texture and delicious early drinking qualities. Drink 2025 to 2034.

92 points Huon Hooke for The Real Review, December 2025

Yering Station stands on the site of Victoria's first vineyard, planted in 1838 in the upper Yarra Valley. Under chief winemaker Brendan Hawker, the estate produces wines across several tiers that draw on the cool climate and elevation of the upper Yarra — a region that consistently produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay of natural freshness and finesse.

This Pinot Noir draws fruit from three Yarra Valley sites. Yering, Coldstream and Gruyere each contribute to a wine that moves with the confidence of a producer who knows this region well. Matured in 500-litre French puncheons with a restrained proportion of new oak, the winemaking keeps its hands light and lets the vintage speak.

Pale garnet in the glass, with strawberry, raspberry and a gentle earthiness on the nose, lifted by dusty spice and a hint of enoki mushroom. The palate is tightly wound and fresh, with fine persistent tannins and good length through to a clean, precise finish.

Drink now with a slight chill or set aside for a few years — this is a wine that will fill out nicely with a little time. Good company for duck, a mushroom risotto or a pinot-friendly charcuterie spread.

Drinking well now through 2031.
