Crisp, dry Tasmanian Sauvignon with floral citrus aromas and generous fruit flavours
42 Degrees South wines are made by Frogmore Creek, a vineyard in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley established in the mid-1990s by the Scherer family. It has been part of the Hill-Smith family’s portfolio of vineyards and brands since December 2012 and has since expanded to include two other nearby sites. Chief winemaker Alain Rousseau has led the work at the winery for more than 20 years.
The name for these wines represents the central latitude of Tasmania. The wines are easy drinking and fruit driven varietal expressions to be enjoyed a year or two from release.
The grapes for this wine were pressed and de-juiced with only slight pressure prior to cold settling overnight. The juice was then racked into stainless steel for fermentation with a select cultivated yeast at controlled temperatures of 18 to 20 degrees. The wine rested on lees for eight weeks and was cold stabilised and filtered ahead of an early bottling in June following the harvest.
A refreshing Tasmanian alternative to Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, this fresh white wine opens with floral citrus and fruit aromas that spill into the generously fruited palate that finishes dry and crisp.
Serve well chilled as an aperitif or to lighter seafood.
