Amelia Park Trellis Chardonnay is a beautifully expressive Margaret River white that captures the region’s trademark balance of richness and freshness. The vineyards sit in the cooler southern reaches of Margaret River, where gravelly loam soils and constant ocean influence allow Chardonnay to ripen slowly, building flavour while holding onto bright natural acidity and a savoury, mineral edge.
Amelia Park was founded by the Hohnen family, whose name is woven deeply into Margaret River’s wine history. The Trellis range focuses on precision and vineyard expression, using careful winemaking to highlight the natural character of the fruit rather than dominate it with oak or weight.
In the glass, the wine shows white peach, nectarine and lemon curd, layered with cashew, subtle toast and a gentle struck match note. The palate is medium to full bodied, with a creamy, fine textured mid palate balanced by crisp acidity and a long, saline finish that speaks of its coastal origins. It is generous yet composed, making it both engaging and very drinkable.
This is a superb wine for the table. Grilled fish, prawns, roast chicken, pork with herbs, or dishes with butter and citrus all work beautifully with its combination of texture and freshness.
Amelia Park Trellis Chardonnay drinks well on release but will also reward three to seven years in the cellar, gaining more nutty and savoury complexity with time. It is a confident, modern Margaret River Chardonnay that delivers both pleasure and pedigree.
