Castelli Estate is based in Denmark in the Great Southern of WA, but the fruit for their Estate Chardonnay comes from two vineyards in Pemberton producing precise Chardonnay of real distinction. Two Pemberton vineyards contribute different elements to the blend each year, one adding power and structure, the other complexity and balance. The fruit is 100% barrel fermented in French oak to build textural richness and that characteristic gunflint complexity without compromising the wine's essential freshness and focus.
Pale straw with a bright hue, the nose shows cumquat, grapefruit and toasted hazelnut with a distinctive gunflint mineral thread and a creamy, subtle oak presence. The palate is finely woven and focused, with precise acidity, a mineral core and a long, clean finish.
This is a restrained cool-climate Chardonnay that will continue to develop and improve over several years in the bottle. Serve chilled, not cold. Enjoy with shellfish and grilled firm fish when younger. Mature bottles would delight with poultry and pork roasts.
Drink now through 2030.
