A Bordeaux-like barrel fermented Sauvignon with heady, flinty aromas of nettles and blackcurrants
I've been a bit of a fan of this wine since I first saw it a few years ago. It's made in the fumé style, which means after natural fermentation it was matured in French oak, in this case for 4 months, but at the same time it retains its fine linear freshness with a minerally citrus note on the nose and a palate. While the oak is evident, it's very subtle, and the wine primarily displays a crunchy vibrancy with those primary fruit characters supported by a fine minerally acidity. Drink to 2033.
95 points Ray Jordan WA Wine Review 2026
Fresh and vibrant with aromas of gooseberries, kaffir limes, citrus blossoms, lemongrass and a hint of white peaches. The midweight, textural palate has bright acidity, showing flavors of passion fruit, green apples, nettles and crushed stones. Crisp and pure with a mineral-driven finish that carries length and energy. Drink or hold.

Larry Cherubino is an experienced winemaker of Italian heritage with roots firmly in place across Western Australia’s Great Southern, Pemberton and Margaret River wine regions. His extensive portfolio of wines spans a dozen or so labels, each offering a number of varieties or styles, and all delivering impressively consistent quality and value.
From the near-perfect 2025 season, the fruit for this wine was night-harvested and de-stemmed for a fermentation with indigenous yeasts in new French oak at controlled, low temperatures.
The result is a wine that leans heavily to its Bordeaux heritage, with lifted aromas reminiscent of nettles and blackcurrants, and layers of spicy fruit flavours held tightly by a fine, long line of acidity. Comes with a modest 12.3% alc./vol., and sits well with a wide range of vegetable, seafood and chicken preparations. Perfect with pan-grilled, white fleshed fish with crisp skin served with hot spring vegetables and a creamy or buttery sauce!
