Château des Ferrages sits near Pourcieux at the foot of Mont Sainte Victoire, in one of the most beautiful corners of Provence. The estate is owned by the Famille Quiot, whose winemaking history in southern France stretches back for generations. Cuvée Roumery is exactly the sort of Provence rosé that makes pale pink wine so dangerously easy to understand: dry, fragrant and built around freshness rather than sweetness.
The vineyards enjoy abundant Mediterranean sunshine, but the influence of the Sainte Victoire massif and the region’s cooling winds helps retain acidity. The traditional Provençal blend gives the 2025 its delicate red fruit, citrus and herbal character, while gentle pressing keeps the colour fashionably pale. There is enough texture to take it beyond aperitif duty, but the mood remains resolutely fresh and uncomplicated.
Very pale salmon pink. Wild strawberry, white peach and raspberry lead into pink grapefruit, watermelon and delicate blossom. Blood orange and fresh fennel add a savoury edge, with a subtle saline note underneath. The palate is dry and crisp, with juicy red berries and citrus carried by bright acidity. Grapefruit peel and a little Mediterranean herb character sharpen the clean, refreshing finish.
Grilled prawns with saffron, garlic and lemon sound about right, while tuna niçoise, zucchini flowers with ricotta, charred octopus or a big platter of tomatoes, burrata and basil would disappear happily alongside. Better still, put several of them on the table, chill another bottle and call it lunch.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2029.
