This young & fragrant cool-climate Riesling from Duncan Cook & team delivers an upfront blast of floral aromas channeling honeysuckle blossoms, soft verbena and wafts of rosewater. The clean and zippy acid mid-palate allows the fulsome flavours to unfurl and entice. This delightful Riesling is generous in characteristics, albeit in a boundary-stretching way, and shows some intrigue and complexity which would reward short-term cellaring. It is well priced and already the winner of 1 Trophy, undoubtedly with more to come.

Another reliable and well-made wine from Cooks Lot, these wines are great value for $25. This Riesling hits the mark with pretty aromatics and delightful fruit. Yes!

Scents of bath salts and musk tease as they skip from the glass. Handfuls of lemons and limes bound along with freshly cut green apples. A chalky texture strides out through the mid-palate building some structure with a clean and crisp acidity knocking everything into shape. A lovely wine that is easy to embrace and just as easy to recommend.

From the high altitude vineyards of Orange in New South Wales comes a Riesling that captures the region’s cool climate precision and vibrant purity. Cook’s Lot is a small, quality focused producer drawing fruit from elevated sites around 800 to 900 metres above sea level, where volcanic soils and cold nights slow ripening and preserve natural acidity. Orange has steadily built a reputation for finely structured Riesling, with bright citrus profiles and impressive ageing potential, and Lot 333 reflects that regional identity with clarity and detail.

Pale straw with green flashes, the aromatics are lifted and intense. Fresh lime juice, lemon zest and green apple leap from the glass, layered with white blossom and a distinct mineral edge. There is a crystalline purity that immediately signals cool climate origin.

On the palate it is dry, tightly coiled and energetic. Lime, grapefruit and crisp apple flow across a spine of racy natural acidity, giving drive and length. A subtle chalky texture adds grip, while the finish is long and mouthwatering with lingering citrus and stony minerality. It is a precise, linear style of Orange Riesling with both immediate appeal and structural backbone.

Pair with freshly shucked oysters, grilled prawns, Thai green papaya salad, sushi or goat cheese with lemon and herbs. While thrilling in its youth for its vibrancy, this Riesling will cellar confidently for ten to fifteen years, developing toast, honey and classic kerosene complexity while retaining its core freshness.
