Domaine Collotte is a family estate based in Marsannay, at the northern end of Burgundy's Côte de Nuits. Established by Pierre Collotte and now run by his son Philippe, the domaine has earned a following for honest, characterful wines that represent excellent value in an increasingly expensive region. Their Bourgogne Aligoté is a lovely reminder that Burgundy's other white grape deserves plenty of attention.
Aligoté thrives in Burgundy's limestone influenced soils, producing wines with lively acidity, delicate fruit and an appealing savoury edge. The 2025 is a fresh, uncomplicated expression, capturing the variety's citrus character and natural energy without unnecessary richness.
Pale straw yellow with bright green reflections. Fresh lemon, green apple and white pear mingle with white blossom, crushed stone and a hint of almond. The palate is crisp and energetic, with juicy citrus, crunchy orchard fruit and a subtle chalky texture. A gentle saline note carries through the clean, mouthwatering finish.
Try it with salt and pepper squid, grilled sardines with parsley and lemon, or crispy leek and potato galettes with crème fraîche. Its bright acidity is also terrific alongside goat's cheese, pickled vegetables and fresh seafood.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2029. Best appreciated for its youthful freshness and lively citrus fruit.
