Dry style Great Southern Riesling from maritime Denmark with lively and nuanced flavours
From a single vineyard in the Denmark sub-region of the Great Southern winegrowing district in Western Australia, this is more evidence of just how exciting the 2025 vintage is proving to be. Very pale lemon in colour, aromas weave through a mix of notes of grapefruit, garden herbs, spices, river stones, florals and wet slate. There is a minerally backing and the wine opens up a little more on the palate, giving us touches of honeycomb and stone fruit. There is very good length here and the wine will provide excellent drinking for the next ten to fifteen years. Drink to 2041.

Very pale lemon hue. Pea shoots and papaya aromas. Tight and vibrant, lemon, papaya and pea shoot notes with a touch of quartz minerality. Good length with some sweetness that is countered by a touch of grip into the finish. Drink to 2035.

Winemaker James Kellie’s years as a contract winemaker for growers across the Great Southern region gave him unique insights into its diversity and potential. His love for the region led him to purchase a former client, Harewood Estate, in 2003 with his wife Careena. This commitment came with building a winery from scratch and a clear ambition: to make wines that reflect the full breadth of the Great Southern rather than a single corner of it.
James has been a pioneer of promoting Denmark Riesling, believing it has a distinct identity that sets it apart from other sub-regions of the Great Southern. His dry-style example is detailed and complex, and well-suited for mid-term cellaring.
