Great value zesty white from the cool, maritime Denmark subregion of the Great Southern
Defies its modest price point by delivering a potent interpretation of the classic, crisp dry white Bordeaux blend. It is quite impressive on a number of fronts, not just price. Grass and herbal aromas lead lifted aromatics in apple blossom with vibrant citrus. Flavours build nicely on the palate and remained sustained, long and lingering with an impressive depth of herbals, hay, grass, citrus, apple, gooseberry and dill. Richly defined, bright in acidity and good drinking now. Value plus. Drink to 2029.

Undoubtedly the most impressive release of this wine I have yet encountered. From the Denmark sub-region of the great southern, the blend uses only free run juice. Pale watery lemon in colour, there are attractive citrus notes evident here. Lemon curd, grapefruit, spices and touches of gooseberries, almost reminiscent of the wonderful gooseberry jam my grandmother used to make. Zesty, balanced, focused and with excellent length, there is an attractive texture here. Seamless in structure, this should drink beautifully for the next four years, longer if you have the patience. Absolutely sensational value. Drink to 2030.

This wine was made from grapes grown in the cool maritime climate of Denmark, the southern coastal reach of the the Great Southern wine region of Western Australia.
Only the pristine free-run juice was used in the cool stainless steel. The wine was bottled with minimal fining, and the final wine is 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon.
About this producer
Winemaker James Kellie’s years as a contract winemaker for growers across the Great Southern region gave him unique insights into its diversity and potential. His love for the region led him to purchase a former client, Harewood Estate, in 2003 with his wife Careena. This commitment came with building a winery from scratch and a clear ambition: to make wines that reflect the full breadth of the Great Southern rather than a single corner of it.
