Elegant, lighter style with delicious flavours of gently spiced red fruit and milk chocolate
Best Grenache & People’s Choice trophies at the 2026 Marananga Wine Show
Medium-depth red-purple. Fresh herbs and raspberries to sniff, bright and clean and straightforward. A lighter framed wine, elegant and balanced, the tannins very supple and fine. Just enough structure to provide a frame for the fruit, which is delicious. Long and pure-fruited finish. Smart wine indeed. Drink to 2039.

Barossa Grenache continues to prove itself incredibly versatile and wonderfully delicious. The fruit here came from the Seppeltsfield vineyard and fermentation included 20% whole bunches. Maturation was for nine months in larger format and older French oak. A polished yet bright crimson, the nose reveals aromas of strawberries, dry herbs, violets, cinnamon, bay leaves, milk chocolate and dark cherries. There is good energy here. This is a wine full of life with a gentle fade and a fine line of acidity through satiny tannins. We see more and more of those cherry notes emerging on the palate. A cracking Grenache for enjoying over the next six to eight years.

The fruit for this wine was grown in Hentley Farm’s Seppeltsfield blocks E1 and C3, both elevated sites with easterly aspects on shallow red clay over shattered limestone. The dry and warm 2025 season hastened ripening, with the fruit for this wine picked across tow days in late February and early March. The small batch ferments featured 20% inclusions of whole bunches and two-thirds enjoyed extended skin maceration for up to sixty days. The pressed wine was matured for nine months in large-format seasoned French oak.
About this producer
Hentley Farm was established in 1997 by Keith and Alison Hentschke in the rolling hills of Greenock Creek in the western reaches of the Barossa. Their 150-hectare property sits on a diverse range of soils that coupled with the varying orientations of the land gives them a rich tapestry of fruit styles from their two vineyard sites. Work at the winery has been led by winemaker Andrew Quin since 2008.
