2025 Kalleske Parallax Grenache, Barossa Valley

An early-picked grenache, full stalks and pressed to tank for a brief while before bottling. Lightly coloured, buoyant and with an airy, spacious feel to its travel. Pretty and lifted raspberry, redcurrant, red plum and Ruby Red grapefruit, along with souk-like spice, ginger beer, rose petals, cherry cola, dried citrus rind and blossom and twiggy nuance. Lithe and kinetic on the palate with light, pillowy tannins, fine acidity and a sense of detail to its passage. It's a style that I really like, this one. Drink to 2028.

Grenache has become one of the Kalleske family's great passions, with Parallax showcasing just how refined and expressive old vine Barossa fruit can be. Farming the same land since 1853, the Kalleske family are pioneers of certified organic and biodynamic viticulture, producing wines that combine purity, authenticity and a deep connection to the vineyards of Greenock.

Parallax is sourced from mature, low yielding Grenache vines grown in the ancient sandy soils of the Barossa Valley. Organic farming, careful hand harvesting and gentle winemaking preserve the variety's vibrant fruit and natural perfume, creating a wine that balances generosity with freshness and finesse.

The colour is a brilliant ruby crimson with vibrant purple highlights. Fragrant aromas of wild raspberry, cherry and red plum are complemented by rose petals, baking spice and hints of dried herbs. The palate is bright and beautifully textured, carrying juicy red berry fruit through fine silky tannins and lively acidity. Subtle notes of anise, earthy spice and mineral freshness linger across a long, graceful finish.

A delicious partner for chargrilled lamb cutlets, duck sausages, wood fired pizza, roasted eggplant with tahini or mushroom and lentil pie. Enjoy over the next eight to ten years while its vibrant fruit and savoury complexity continue to evolve.
