2025 Mountadam Riesling, Eden Valley

Pale straw with a green flash and aromas of freshly squeezed lime, Bickford's lime cordial, hints of Christmas lilies, stone, citrus blossom, lemongrass and lime zest. Lots of focused mineral drive on display, with a crisp, dry finish and a tubular core of crunchy lime and grapefruit.

Mountadam Vineyards is a family winery in the High Eden sub-region of Eden Valley. This is the highest point in the Barossa, rising to 600 metres altitude across hilly terrain of complex geology. Established in 1972, current owners David and Jenni Brown preside over a large property covering ten square kilometres, with their two vineyards totalling 67 hectares.

The 2025 Mountadam Riesling is a blend of the western parts of the Mountadam High Eden vineyards planted in 1968 and 1974. The site has a southerly aspect at an elevation of 550 meters and was a fruit source for Leo Buring’s Leonay for over the forty years before it was reunited with the eastern side of Mountadam in 2015 when the Brown family purchased the property.

The fruit was harvested in the early morning over two days at the start of March. In the now customary style of Eden Valley, the grapes were pressed within hours of harvest, and the free-run juice cold settled and racked before a long cool fermentation in stainless steel.
