2025 Robert Stein Farm Series Riesling, Mudgee

Robert Stein is one of Mudgee's most respected family wineries, established in the 1970s and now in the capable hands of Jacob Stein. The Farm Series is an approachable entry point to Stein wines: reliable and well made, drawing on fruit from elevated Mudgee vineyard sites selected for freshness and varietal character.

The 2025 growing season started with excellent winter rains. Frequent summer showers made for a tricky harvest, but the vineyard's elevation and natural slope drained the excess moisture effectively. A short, warm harvest period delivered fruit of good concentration and balance. Whole bunch pressed and cool fermented in stainless steel with a small amount of lees contact for texture.

The result is a light, fresh and immediately appealing Riesling — floral and fragrant on the nose with citrus and lime on the palate, balanced by a touch of natural sweetness that keeps the finish soft and approachable.

Pour alongside a Vietnamese prawn salad with rice paper — the wine's citrus freshness and gentle sweetness find the herbs and lime a natural partner.
