Tahbilk is Victoria's oldest family-owned winery, with vineyards to 1860 farmed since 1925 by the Purbrick family. Fifth generation Hayley Purbrick continues that work today with General Manager Joanne Nash.
Located within Nagambie Lakes wine region, the 300ha estate vineyards are planted in iron oxide rich soils and surrounded by the Tabilk-Tabilk wetlands. These are an integral part of the estate and believed to have a significant moderating effect to the warmth of the surrounding Goulburn Valley. Tahbilk has nine hectares of Riesling, with the oldest vines dating back to 1957.
2025 will be remembered as a season when nature offered Victorian growers good spring rains and a warm, dry and trouble-free growing season. Yields and quality were both considered excellent.
Riesling vinification at Tahbilk follows now traditional Australian practices of gentle handling in stainless steel, with the wines bottled after a short rest to capture the fruit characters in their most delicate form.
The nose is all spring florals on this attractive wine, with delicate green apple, citrus and grapefruit flavours on the medium-weighted palate.
Good company to natural oysters, pan-seared whiting with a finger lime beurre blanc, or steamed coral trout with shaved ginger, shiro soy, and hot peanut oil.
