Finely tuned, savoury and chalky Chardonnay from thirty-year-old vines in Dixon’s Creek
From a single block of 31-year-old vines. 15% new wood, no mlf. A bright green gold. Harmonious with its gentle stone fruit aromas together with some melon and quince scents. This fills out nicely on the palate while keeping its shape, before finishing saline, chalky, savoury and long. Drink now and over the next three to five years [ed. to 2032].
96 points & Special Value Philip Rich for Halliday Wine Companion, June 2026
Pauls Lane Chardonnay is sourced from twenty rows within Toolangi’s D-Block planted to the I10V3 clone in 1995. The fruit was handpicked on 15th of February, crushed, destemmed and pressed to French oak barrels of which 10% were new. Fermentation started with indigenous yeasts and the wine rested nine months on lees without malolactic conversion.
This is a finely tuned Chardonnay from one of the Yarra Valley’s best addresses with pure citrus and stone fruit flavours, bright zesty acidity and subtle spice carried through a long finish with a distinctive saline edge.
