Refreshing Riesling with generous and bright flavours of citrus and juicy apples
West Cape Howe is a family-winery in Mount Barker based at the Langton vineyard established in 1978. The home vineyard fruit is complemented by fruit sourced primarily from Frankland River and the Porongurup, as well as the Perth Hills.
The fruit for this wine comes from the Langton vineyard and was night-harvested and processed immediately, the free-run juice was fermented in stainless steel at cool temperatures.
Drinking well on release, this is a punchy, great-value Riesling with generous, lively citrus and apple fruit and a refreshing tonic water-like quality to it. There’s a smidgen of residual fruit sweetness in the folds, but this is balanced by bight acidity, both drawing the fruit flavours out on the balanced finish.
Great summer drinking here, best enjoyed while young and juicy. Would sit well at the table with a platter of Vietnamese squid and pineapple, a green papaya salad and some crispy fried cauliflower.
