Representing four vineyard sites and encompassing three sub-regions in Marlborough (Brancott, Waihopai & Wairau Valley) this Pinot Noir clearly expresses a FROMM winery style.
Opening with alluring bright, dark, red fruits, the nose is under laced with slatey minerals, Earl Grey spice and a subtle dusting of oak. The palate is generous with lovely fruit weight and tasty, balanced acidity. There’s a velvet structure to this wine which is aided by its ripe, layered tannins.
This 2017 is very approachable and rewarding young yet complex enough to sit and wait out a handful of years in the cellar. A bright and pure Pinot with good fruit weight and sweet spicy undertones. Layered and harmonious with a structural complexity yet offering lovely drink now approachability.
Fromm's entry level pinot noir and the only one sealed with screwcap rather than cork. Appealing cherry and violet aromas with bright berry and spice flavours. An attractive and accessible wine, with a supple texture and perfect balance of acidity and fruit sweetness. Perhaps a little simple but with good varietal identity.11 MAR 2019 Drink 2019–2023
