From Tasmania’s pristine cool climate vineyards, Ninth Island Sparkling Cuvée captures the fresh, lively style that has made the island one of Australia’s sparkling wine strongholds. Produced by the Pipers Brook team, pioneers of Tasmanian viticulture since the 1970s, Ninth Island focuses on purity, bright fruit and easy drinkability, drawing on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown in maritime influenced sites.
A fine, energetic bead lifts through a pale straw colour with green highlights. Aromas open with lemon zest, green apple and white peach layered with a hint of strawberry, light brioche and a fresh floral lift. There is an immediate sense of brightness and approachability.
The palate is crisp and refreshing, delivering citrus and orchard fruit flavours framed by lively acidity and a light, creamy mousse. Notes of apple skin, subtle pastry and a touch of minerality carry through the mid palate, leading to a clean, zesty finish that feels both vibrant and easy going. Best enjoyed young while its freshness and energy are front and centre.
Fresh oysters with a squeeze of lemon, crispy fish and chips by the coast, or a plate of salt and pepper squid shared without hesitation. A spin of Vivaldi The Four Seasons or something upbeat from Empire of the Sun, the bubbles bringing lift, brightness and that unmistakable Tasmanian freshness to the moment.
