2012 Capel Vale Whispering Hills Shiraz

Capel Vale has been making distinctive elegant wines from the cool regions of Western Australia since 1974. The Single Vineyard Series Whispering Hills is a superb example of Mount Barker Shiraz showing intense aromas of pepper, red berries and spice. The palate is rich and full of sweet fruit with fine grained, firm tannins. This powerful, elegant and complex wine will develop in complexity with 5 years of careful cellaring. 

Deep purple-crimson; the fragrant bouquet immediately offers its charms, with black and red berry fruits, oriental spices and black pepper all in the game; the watchword for the medium-bodied palate is elegance, the power play having been left for its Regional Series sibling. I suspect much will be consumed before its due time.
