From the rolling hills of Valpolicella in Veneto comes an Amarone that showcases both tradition and modern precision. Cielo e Terra was founded in 1908 and has grown into one of the region’s respected producers, combining long family heritage with contemporary winemaking expertise. The Centenero Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG is crafted from the classic local varieties Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, grown on hillside vineyards where limestone and clay soils provide structure and depth. After harvest the grapes undergo the traditional appassimento process, drying slowly to concentrate sugars, flavour and tannin before careful fermentation and maturation.
Deep garnet with ruby highlights, the nose is rich and layered. Dried cherry, black plum and fig rise from the glass alongside cocoa, sweet spice and a touch of vanilla. Subtle hints of tobacco, leather and balsamic add complexity and warmth, reflecting the Amarone style.
The palate is full bodied and opulent yet balanced, with concentrated dark fruit at its core. Velvety tannins and measured acidity give structure and poise, preventing heaviness. Notes of dark chocolate, espresso and dried herbs build through the mid palate, leading to a long, warming finish marked by spice and dried cherry richness. It is generous and smooth while maintaining classic Amarone intensity.
Pair with braised beef cheeks, slow cooked lamb shanks, venison stew, aged Parmigiano Reggiano or rich mushroom dishes. Decant in its youth to allow the aromatics to open, and expect confident cellaring potential of fifteen to twenty years as it develops further savoury, leathery complexity.
