Lovely, inviting nebbiolo nose with fresh and dried cherries, colored with pungent, sous-bois notes of dried roses and truffley mushrooms. Full-bodied, yet very tight and fresh with a solid tannin framework. Super-fresh and flavorful, but will this will need some time to soften a little. Solid wine for the vintage. Try from 2025.

Made with fruit from Rocche di Castiglione, Cannubi and Bric dël Fiasc, the Paolo Scavino 2018 Barolo Carobric needs a few moments to open before the aromas come into full view. Sweet cherry, earth, licorice and rusty nail rise from the top, and on second nose, you might recognize truffle essence as well. I like the vibrant, lifted character of this wine. This is a 5,800-bottle production.
