Plenty of sweet plums on the nose with orange peel. It’s full-bodied with juicy ripe fruit and creamy tannins. Some savory, earth and meaty character in the aftertaste. Drink or hold.

Few names are more deeply woven into the history of Chianti Classico than Barone Ricasoli. The family has been making wine at Castello di Brolio for nearly nine centuries, and Baron Bettino Ricasoli famously helped define the original Chianti recipe in the nineteenth century. Today the estate remains a standard bearer for Sangiovese, producing wines that honour Tuscany's rich heritage while embracing meticulous modern viticulture.
Rocca Guicciarda Riserva is sourced from hillside vineyards across the Gaiole district, where galestro, limestone and clay soils provide the ideal foundation for Sangiovese. The excellent 2019 vintage delivered beautifully ripe fruit balanced by vibrant acidity, producing a Riserva of impressive concentration, elegance and classical Chianti character.
The colour is a deep ruby red with garnet highlights. Aromas of black cherry, wild raspberry and red plum are entwined with violet, dried herbs, cedar and sweet spice. The palate is poised and beautifully structured, combining vibrant red and dark fruits with silky tannins and lively acidity. Hints of tobacco, liquorice and earthy minerality emerge through a long, savoury finish that reflects the pedigree of one of Tuscany's great historic estates.
A magnificent companion to bistecca alla Fiorentina, wild boar ragù, roast lamb, porcini mushroom risotto or aged Pecorino Toscano. Drinking beautifully now after a short decant, this classic Chianti Classico Riserva will continue to reward careful cellaring for the next ten to fifteen years.
