A famous Aussie label that keeps on truckin' and has a stellar track record of cellaring like a champion. Deep crimson with aromas of blackberry pastille, black cherry and blackcurrant fruits with hints of spice rack, tobacco leaf, cedar, drying meadow herbs, licorice, choc-mint, leather, coffee grounds and earth. There is something familiar and deeply comforting here. Full bodied and inky pure, oak-derived wood spice sashaying through the deep black fruits, thick-shouldered with superfine, powdery tannins, it's a classic style and makes for great regional drinking. Drink to 2050.

95 points Dave Brookes for Halliday Wine Companion, May 2025

A massive wine with huge depth, generosity and vitality; tannins are ripe and powder-soft, the finish is long and complex.

94 points & Silver at the 2026 Decanter WWA

The Stonewell Shiraz, first made in 1987, has one guiding principle: to be Peter Lehmann’s best shiraz of vintage. The name Stonewell was chosen in recognition of the high-quality shiraz grapes being grown around Stonewell Road in the Marananga subregion of the Barossa Valley. The wine was matured for 15 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak hogsheads. Following bottling, the wine rested in temperature-controlled cellars for a further five years prior to release.
