Deep, dense colour with a powerful, concentrated bouquet of blood plum, blackberry and ironstone, hints of chocolate/mocha, the palate likewise concentrated and essency, with density and saturation, and the tannins are pervasive, mouth-coating and gently chewy. The 2021 McDonald Vyd. Marananga Shiraz is a step up in savory tannin and earth/grit from the Maranaga Shiraz tasted prior. This has a very good, authentic feeling to the tannins, a lot of the swirling around and sticking to teeth etc. This is classy, and like al the other wines in this collection, it is huge. But it wears it well. 1,200 bottles filled. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Published: Aug 25, 2023
