Le Vigne di Eli Etna Rosso Moganazzi offers cherry, spice and volcanic minerality with silky tannins and Mount Etna depth.
Le Vigne di Eli is the deeply personal project of Marco de Grazia, whose pioneering work at Tenuta delle Terre Nere helped establish Mount Etna as one of the world's great wine regions. Created in memory of his brother Elio, the estate focuses on exceptional single vineyard sites, allowing the volcanic slopes of Etna to shine through with remarkable purity and finesse.
Moganazzi is one of the estate's most distinctive vineyards, perched high on Mount Etna's eastern slopes where ancient lava flows, volcanic ash and significant day to night temperature shifts create wines of perfume, precision and longevity. Nerello Mascalese reaches extraordinary expression here, producing a style that beautifully balances elegance with depth and mineral complexity.
The colour is a brilliant ruby red with youthful garnet reflections. Aromas of wild cherry, red currant and raspberry unfold alongside rose petals, dried herbs, blood orange and sweet spice. The palate is refined and beautifully layered, combining vibrant red fruits with silky tannins and lively acidity. Notes of crushed volcanic stone, smoky minerality and savoury herbs build through the wine, leading to a long, graceful finish that speaks unmistakably of Etna.
A magnificent partner for roast duck, grilled lamb cutlets, porcini mushroom risotto, tuna steak or aged Pecorino. Drinking beautifully now with a decant, while the structure and pedigree will reward careful cellaring over the next decade or more.
