This old vine Zinfandel is rich with aromas of spiced raspberry, strawberry, orange pekoe black tea, clove and vanilla on the nose. The mouthfeel is sumptuous with juicy tannins, aromas from the nose repeat on the palate as the delicious flavors in this wine. The finish is long and dry.

Old vine Zinfandel is one of California's great wine treasures, and few producers have done more to bring the style to a wider audience than Bogle Vineyards. The Bogle family has farmed in California for more than six generations, establishing the winery in 1968 and building a reputation for wines that consistently punch above their weight. Under the guidance of Director of Winemaking Warren Bogle and his experienced team, the focus remains on sustainable farming, exceptional fruit quality and wines that deliver authentic regional character.
For this release, fruit is sourced from mature vineyards whose deep root systems naturally produce lower yields and greater concentration. Many of these old vines have weathered decades of California's warm summers, resulting in berries packed with flavour and complexity. The 2022 vintage provided excellent ripening conditions, allowing the variety's signature richness to develop while maintaining freshness and balance.
Deep crimson with purple highlights, the aromas are immediately inviting, offering blackberry, boysenberry and ripe plum alongside notes of black pepper, liquorice, vanilla and sweet baking spices. Hints of mocha, cedar and dark chocolate emerge with time in the glass. Rich and generous, the palate delivers layers of dark berry fruit wrapped in a plush, velvety texture. Zinfandel's natural exuberance is beautifully balanced by soft tannins and lively acidity, creating a wine that feels powerful without becoming heavy. The finish lingers with flavours of blackberry compote, spice and cocoa.
This is a natural match for slow smoked beef brisket, sticky pork ribs, wood fired pepperoni pizza or chargrilled eggplant with roasted tomato and herbs. The wine is already drinking beautifully but has enough concentration to evolve over the next five to eight years. Packed with flavour, warmth and personality, it captures everything that has made California Zinfandel such a beloved style around the world.
