Petite Sirah has become one of California's signature red wine styles, delivering bold flavours, deep colour and impressive structure, and few producers handle the variety better than Bogle. The family has farmed in California for more than six generations, with roots stretching back to the nineteenth century. Since founding the winery in 1968, the Bogles have built a reputation for producing wines that combine authenticity, value and plenty of character. The 2022 vintage provided excellent growing conditions for Petite Sirah, allowing the small, thick skinned berries to achieve full ripeness while retaining freshness. Sourced from carefully selected vineyard sites across California, the fruit is fermented and matured to highlight the variety's naturally rich texture and concentrated dark fruit profile. While Petite Sirah can sometimes be overpowering, Bogle's approach brings impressive balance and drinkability to the style.

Opaque purple black in colour, the wine opens with intense aromas of blackberry, blueberry and black plum, layered with notes of dark chocolate, espresso, liquorice and sweet baking spices. Hints of vanilla, cedar and toasted coconut emerge from oak maturation, adding complexity to the generous fruit. The palate is rich and full bodied, packed with dark berry flavours and framed by velvety yet substantial tannins. Waves of black fruit, cocoa and spice flow across the tongue before a long, powerful finish marked by mocha and dark chocolate.

This is a natural companion for slow cooked beef short ribs, smoked brisket, barbecued lamb shoulder or a rich black bean and roasted vegetable casserole.
