Hand-harvested chardonnay from the beautiful Delamere estate in Pipers River. A blend of barrique (22%) and large format oak foudre. Lees stirred and 10 months' maturation. Light straw in the glass with aromas of white peach, nectarine and grapefruit undercut by hints of soft spice, grilled nuts, vanillin oak, white flowers, nougat, oatmeal and stone. There's a lovely initial flow of textural, silken fruits before the saline acidity reins things in and propels the wine forward with great vitality. It's got a burgundian vibe and is a wine that shows length of flavour and a real sense of grace and place. A wine in limited supply but one definitely worth seeking out!
