Joseph Drouhin Vaudésir Grand Cru showcases exceptional white Burgundy with Grand Cru pedigree, mineral precision & elegance
Maison Joseph Drouhin has been one of Burgundy's great family names since 1880, with four generations building a reputation for elegant, terroir-driven wines of remarkable purity. Vaudésir sits at the heart of Chablis' celebrated Grand Cru hillside, a natural amphitheatre where steep slopes and ancient Kimmeridgian limestone create white Burgundy of extraordinary precision, complexity and longevity.
Vaudésir is prized for combining the mineral intensity of great Chablis with a seductive generosity that distinguishes it from its Grand Cru neighbours. Drouhin's thoughtful approach in the vineyard and cellar allows this exceptional terroir to remain firmly centre stage, balancing concentration and texture with the cool, saline energy that makes Grand Cru Chablis so compelling.
Brilliant pale gold in colour, the bouquet unfolds with lemon zest, green apple and white peach layered with citrus blossom, oyster shell and crushed stone. With air, notes of toasted almond, wet chalk and subtle spice add complexity. The palate is beautifully sculpted, combining concentrated citrus and orchard fruit with vibrant acidity, fine texture and a powerful mineral core. Long, precise and wonderfully composed, the finish carries saline freshness and impressive persistence.
Magnificent with oysters, lobster with beurre blanc, seared scallops, grilled turbot or roast chicken with morels. This is serious, cellar-worthy Chablis, yet its combination of mineral tension and generosity makes it enormously seductive at the table.
Cellaring: Drink now with decanting or cellar for 10–15 years from vintage.
