Louis Latour Vosne Romanée Les Suchots is a sumptuous and expressive Pinot Noir from one of the most hallowed Premier Cru vineyards in the Côte de Nuits, a site that sits between Romanée Saint Vivant and Richebourg and has long been considered one of the jewels of Vosne Romanée. Les Suchots captures the sensual, spice laden character that defines this village, and Louis Latour draws fruit from mature vines rooted deeply in the vineyard’s limestone rich soils mixed with clay and fine gravel. This terroir gives the wine its perfume, silky structure and the seductive depth that has made Suchots one of Burgundy’s most sought after crus. Vosne Romanée is known for producing wines of intensity and refinement, and this cuvée embodies that signature balance.

The winemaking is traditional and respectful of the vineyard. Hand harvested fruit is sorted with precision before fermenting in open vats where gentle extraction preserves the purity of the aromatics and the finesse of the tannins. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels, with a proportion of new oak adding subtle spice, toast and texture. Louis Latour’s long history in Burgundy has shaped a style that is elegant, expressive and consistent, allowing each Premier Cru site to speak with clarity rather than being overshadowed by heavy oak or overextraction.

In the glass it shows a glowing ruby garnet colour. The nose is captivating with layers of red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry woven through notes of rose petal, violet, exotic spice, licorice and subtle tea leaf. Beneath the floral lift lies the classic Vosne Romanée spice box character with hints of sandalwood, clove, warm earth and a faint mineral pulse. As the wine opens, savoury tones of forest floor, dried herbs and a touch of cocoa deepen the bouquet.

The palate is supple, velvety and beautifully detailed. Silky tannins frame a core of red and dark berry fruit with flavours of cherry, cranberry, plum skin, spice and fine oak. There is an elegance to the mid palate that reflects the refinement of Les Suchots, supported by lively acidity and a mineral line that brings freshness. Everything feels harmonious, layered and long. The finish is graceful and persistent with lingering red fruit, floral lift and gentle spice. While delicious now with a short decant, it has the structure and pedigree to age for ten to fifteen years, developing more savoury nuance and depth.

Pair it with roast duck, herb crusted lamb, mushroom dishes, seared tuna, quail, soft cheeses like Époisses or truffle scented risotto. Its combination of perfume and finesse makes it incredibly versatile across refined, flavourful dishes.
