Gently shimmering ruby colour with garnet-red hues. Dominated by very ripe fruit on the nose, of cherry and redcurrant, also cloves and a pinch of black pepper on the finish. Harmonious on the palate, grippy with a beautiful alternation of dense fruit and animating acidity, juicy through to the lingering finish.

Very perfumed Valpolicella with delicious vermouth-like aromas full of licorice, black pepper, blood oranges and sweet spices. Smooth and silky with crisp acidity and a medium body. Chalky tannins are well-balanced by the fruit concentration. Good length. Drink now.

In the rolling hills of the Valpolicella zone just east of Verona, the Pieropan family has long been associated with wines that express purity, balance and a deep respect for Veneto’s traditions. The estate is famous for elevating Soave to world class status, yet the family has also quietly produced compelling reds from their vineyards in the Val d’Illasi. Ruberpan Valpolicella Superiore is crafted from Corvina and Corvinone grown on hillside sites where limestone rich soils and cooling breezes help preserve freshness. The name Ruberpan refers to the reddish tones of the surrounding soils and the wine’s vibrant colour. Under the guidance of brothers Andrea and Dario Pieropan, the estate continues its philosophy of sustainable farming and careful cellar work that highlights the elegance of these classic local varieties.

The wine shows a bright ruby red colour with lively energy. Aromas open with ripe red cherry, raspberry and plum layered with hints of dried herbs, sweet spice and a touch of almond. As it develops in the glass subtle notes of liquorice and earthy complexity appear. The palate is medium bodied and beautifully balanced with supple tannins and fresh acidity carrying flavours of red berries, sour cherry and gentle spice.

There is a savoury edge that adds depth before a smooth, persistent finish. Ruberpan drinks beautifully in its youth yet will gain further complexity over six to eight years. It pairs wonderfully with tomato based pasta dishes, grilled pork, herb roasted chicken or traditional Italian dishes where bright fruit and freshness are key.
