Dark purple hues with a ruby outer rim lead toa bouquet of ripeness and richness, aromas of dark berries and roasted plums, a dark raspberry almost jammy quality then smoky earth, a touch of boot polish wood smoke. Fleshy, fruity, varietal and dry on the palate. All the fruit scents turn into flavour on the palate set in a silky frame with fine polished tannins and medium+ acid line. A lovely example, balanced and well made with best drinking from day of purchase through 2030+.

When a shiraz is priced keenly, grown in a region making superfine examples and made by a producer who is top-notch, well, the wine will be too. This is awash with dark plums, licorice and baking spices, menthol and plump, ripe tannins, plus plenty of acidity. It’s fuller bodied but not too big, just a little alcohol warmth on the finish – with food, less obvious.
