Medium to full ruby red colour. Blackberry, black olive and dried bayleaf on the nose. A wonderfully complex and harmonious palate with dark fruits, wood spices and a dried leaf note all wrapped in finely honed gravelly tannins. The palate is medium weight but with a sense of restrained tension, carrying to a prodigious length and allowing the finish to be a joyous fan of classic cabernet characters 27 Jan 2025 Drink 2025–2042

A blend of 63/16/10/7/4% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/petit verdot/malbec/cabernet franc. That's two great back-to-back vintages for this Yarra Valley and Australian classic. Bright crimson purple. A wonderful bouquet of perfectly ripened black cherries, blackcurrants, cedar (from the already integrated oak) and lavender. With its core of dark fruits and impeccably balanced, fully ripe yet silky tannins, this complex and harmonious wine is destined to join the ranks of the very best Yeringbergs.

Yeringberg’s Bordeaux Blend is one of the Yarra Valley’s most iconic and age-worthy reds, a wine that quietly commands reverence from critics, sommeliers and collectors alike. Produced by the de Pury family, whose winemaking history on the estate dates back to 1863, this wine blends Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a touch of Petit Verdot and Malbec, in true Left Bank tradition, but with the poise and perfume that only the Yarra Valley can deliver.
Sourced from estate vines on the north-facing slopes of Coldstream, the fruit is hand picked, fermented in open vats, and matured for around 18 months in French oak, a portion of which is new. Winemaking here is about balance and restraint, not showiness, each vintage is crafted to reflect the season and the site, rather than style trends.
The nose is detailed and complex, with cassis, plum, cedar, dried herbs, violets, graphite and cigar box. The palate is medium bodied and beautifully structured, with fine tannins framing layers of blackcurrant, red cherry, tobacco, bay leaf and earth. There’s a clarity and quiet power to this wine, with a long, savoury finish that promises years of graceful evolution.
Food pairing: ideal with roast lamb, rare beef fillet, duck with lentils, or mushroom and thyme pie. Also excellent with firm aged cheeses or chargrilled eggplant.
Cellar potential: absolutely built to age. While expressive in its youth with decanting, this wine truly shines after 8 to 25 years in the cellar, gaining complexity, polish and nuance.
