From the southern part of Gevrey. 40% whole bunch vinification, and 15-20% new wood. Mid crimson ruby. Generous strawberry fruit up front, darker behind on the palate, fine acidity, plenty of energy all the way through to the finish. This is a lovely example. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Nov 2024.

90-92 points Jasper Morris MW Inside Burgundy

Arnaud Mortet has firmly established himself as one of Burgundy's most exciting winemakers, building on the extraordinary legacy of his father, Denis Mortet. Since taking the reins of the family estate, Arnaud has refined a style that combines concentration and structure with greater elegance and precision. His wines are highly sought after by collectors, reflecting both meticulous vineyard work and a deep understanding of Gevrey Chambertin's complex terroirs.

Ma Cuvée is sourced from a selection of vineyard parcels throughout Gevrey Chambertin, bringing together the village's hallmark power and perfume in a single wine. The 2023 vintage produced fruit of exceptional quality, with excellent balance between ripeness, freshness and aromatic detail. Careful handling in the winery and judicious oak use allow the character of the vineyards to remain at the forefront.

Bright ruby red in colour, the bouquet is beautifully expressive with aromas of red cherry, wild raspberry and redcurrant layered with rose petal, violet and subtle spice. As the wine opens, notes of forest floor, cedar and crushed stone emerge, adding depth and complexity. The palate is silky and finely detailed, delivering vibrant red berry fruits supported by polished tannins and lively acidity. A subtle mineral thread runs through the wine, while the finish is long, elegant and wonderfully persistent, carrying notes of spice, earth and floral perfume.

This is a superb match for duck breast, roast quail, veal tenderloin, mushroom pithivier or truffle infused pasta dishes. While already highly appealing with a decant, it possesses the structure and balance to evolve gracefully over the next decade and beyond.
