Made from rows 55 to 77 from the 3.2ha, south-facing D block, which was planted with MV6 between 1995 and 1998. Whole bunches (25%) and matured in 27% new oak. A touch closed at the moment, you'll find aromas of black cherries, ripe strawberries and some violet pastilles. Excellent depth and structure on the palate. This will need, though, another six to 12 months, at least, before it really starts to let its hair down.

Clyde Park Single Block D Pinot Noir from Geelong is a beautifully defined, small-parcel wine that captures the elegance and tension of the Moorabool Valley. Grown on the steep slopes of Block D, where grey loam sits over limestone, this Pinot reflects its site with lifted aromatics, fine structure and remarkable clarity of fruit.
The vineyard’s elevation and exposure to maritime breezes help preserve acidity while allowing slow, even ripening. Winemaking is hands-off, with handpicking, wild fermentation and a generous use of whole bunches to build aromatic lift and savoury complexity. Maturation in fine French oak adds subtle support without overwhelming the purity of the fruit.
The nose is perfumed with redcurrant, wild strawberry and dark cherry layered with whole-bunch spice, rose petal and a whisper of cedar. The palate is finely tuned—supple but firm—with red berries, forest herbs, and crushed rock tannins that stretch through a long, mineral finish.
Pair with confit duck, roasted quail, mushroom tagliatelle or grilled salmon. While expressive now with a good decant, this Pinot will develop gracefully over 8 to 10 years.
