From the F College block, planted on a north-facing slope by Garry Farr in '88. Significantly better, I am pleased to report, than the previous year's wine. An intense bouquet of dark cherries, wild strawberries, musk and violets. Terrific depth on the palate, with a creaminess that comes from old vines and good terroir. Built for the long haul yet still wonderfully fresh and energetic too. Long. Superb.

Clyde Park Single Block F College Pinot Noir from Geelong is a pure and polished expression of one of the estate’s most distinctive vineyard sites. Block F, known as the College block, is planted on slightly lower slopes than Block D but with similar limestone-based soils, offering a softer, more generous take on cool-climate Pinot while still retaining precision and drive.
Handpicked fruit is wild fermented with a measured use of whole bunches, then aged in French oak to bring complexity and structure without compromising the clarity of the fruit. The result is a wine that’s seductive in its perfume and silky in its texture, with a graceful, flowing palate.
Aromas of ripe red cherry, raspberry and blood plum are layered with hints of clove, dried thyme and forest earth. The palate is supple and elegant with juicy red fruit, finely grained tannins and a savoury, lightly spiced finish that lingers with poise.
This wine shines with roast pork, duck with cherry glaze, grilled salmon or mushroom and thyme tart. Delicious now, but will reward cellaring for 6 to 8 years.
