Just bottled. A robust and refreshing purple colour. A little burnt rubber reduction straight after bottling. Plenty of fruit here on the palate, raspberry seedless, plenty of energy, and a very good fruit acid balance. Drink from 2026-2029. Tasted Nov 2024.
90 points Jasper Morris MW Inside Burgundy
Le Clos des Myglands is one of Mercurey’s most recognised monopoles, sitting on well exposed slopes that give a slightly more generous, open expression of Pinot Noir while still holding that Burgundian line. Domaine Faiveley has long been the custodian here, and under Erwan Faiveley the style has shifted toward more precision, polishing the tannins while keeping the vineyard character front and centre.
The 2023 feels bright and expressive from the outset. Red cherry, raspberry and a touch of wild strawberry come through first, followed by violet, a hint of spice and a light earthy note. It’s immediately inviting, with a bit more openness than some of the Côte de Nuits wines.
Give it a moment and it starts to layer up. There’s a gentle savoury thread, a touch of clove and dried herbs, with oak sitting quietly in the background adding shape rather than flavour.
There’s a lovely flow here. Fruit sits in that red spectrum, fresh and lively, supported by fine, supple tannins that give just enough structure. Acidity keeps everything moving, and the finish carries on with soft spice, red fruit and a faint mineral edge.
This is a really versatile wine at the table. Roast chicken or duck works beautifully, but it’s just as good with a mushroom risotto, a beetroot and goat cheese tart or even a roasted pumpkin dish with herbs and spice where the wine’s freshness lifts everything.
Drinking beautifully now, though it will settle in nicely over the next five to eight years.
