Three barrels made. Once in bottle, the oak which stood out a little from the barrel tasting, has dialed back. There remains a slight reduction of the gunflint type on the nose, not excessive, and showing some attractive orchard flavours beneath. There is a pleasing Meursault character after that, in Jane’s typically understated style – gentle, but really quite fine Drink from 2027-2030. Tasted Dec 2024.

Jane Eyre Meursault Village Blanc is a beautifully poised and textural white Burgundy that speaks to both the finesse of Meursault and the distinctive touch of one of Burgundy’s most exciting modern winemakers. Australian-born and now firmly rooted in Burgundy, Jane Eyre has built a cult following for her elegant, terroir-focused wines crafted with minimal intervention and quiet precision.
This Meursault is sourced from small parcels within the village appellation, grown on classic clay-limestone soils that give the wine its signature richness and mineral line. The fruit is handpicked and whole-bunch pressed, then naturally fermented in French oak barrels, with a balanced proportion of new oak to lend depth without dominating the profile. Jane’s style leans toward restraint—no heavy bâtonnage or exaggerated ripeness, just finely tuned winemaking that allows the vineyard to lead.
In the glass, it opens with aromas of white peach, lemon zest, crushed almonds, and a hint of gunflint. The palate is layered and supple, with stone fruit, citrus cream, and savoury notes carried by bright acidity and a saline mineral thread. There’s a quiet power here—a wine that doesn’t shout but has incredible presence and length.
Jane Eyre’s Meursault is a brilliant expression of modern white Burgundy, combining traditional techniques with a fresh perspective. Perfect with scallops, roast chicken with tarragon, or Comté cheese.
