Cross-regional blend with generous berry and chocolate flavours and a dollop of Malbec
Deep, rich colour and an attractive combination of dark chocolate, blackberry and tar, the sweet berry flavours bold and generous on the palate, with abundant soft tannins that are refined and easy on the mouth. Quite delicious. Sweet fruit and plenty of early appeal and charm. It's a real crowd pleaser. Drink to 2036.

The 2023 Blacksmith Cabernet Sauvignon leads with cassis, bay leaf, peppercorns, licorice and wet clay. It is concentrated with aniseed and cocoa. The wine is earthy and shaped by a profusion of tannins through the middle palate and finish. Drink to 2033.

The Blacksmith references Christian Auricht, a 32-year-old blacksmith who arrived from Prussia with his wife and four children and settled in the new Barossa village of Langmeil, establishing a forge in what was to become a thriving trading post. His original smithy remains to this day and is a feature of the Langmeil winery’s heritage setting.
This is a regional Barossa Cabernet with fruit in the cooler than average 2023 season sourced from 15- to 62-year-old vines in Bethany, Gomersal, Lyndoch, Krondorf, Penrice, Seppeltsfield, Shea-Oak Log and Vine Vale.
The parcels matured for twenty-three months in French oak barrels of which a fifth were new for the vintage. The final blend includes a 4.6% component of Malbec.
About this producer
The Lindner family has been immersed in the Barossa’s farming community for six generations and are the custodians of what is believed to be the world’s oldest surviving Shiraz vineyard planted in 1843. Their commitment to quality is unwavering with the Langmeil name representing their family’s ongoing pursuit of excellence all aspects of viticulture and winemaking since 1996.
Like many in the region, the family is of Prussian heritage and settled in the village of Langmeil along the North Para River in 1838. The anti-German sentiment of the late-1910s saw many place names with German origins changed, with Langmeil becoming Bilyara. The locality is now part of the present-day Tanunda.
