Biodynamic Moorabool Valley Gamay with cellaring potential
Partial carbonic maceration and fermented on skins for 25 days. Bright crimson. Needs a few good swirls before revealing lifted aromas of red and blue fruits and crushed violet. It's plush on the front of the palate with ripe, persistent tannins that suggest this will only improve over the next three to four years. A serious, built-to-age gamay. Drink to 2030.
95+ points Philip Rich for Halliday Wine Companion, August 2026
Gamay was planted in a low-lying, warm and sheltered section of Lethbridge’s Moorabool Valley vineyard in 2016.
This wine is only the third release of Lethbridge Gamay and was made using partial carbonic fermentation with whole berries and slow, long extraction with extended skin contact. Lightly pressed, it was matured in seasoned 500L oak puncheons.
About this producer
Ray Nadeson and Maree Collis established Lethbridge in 1996 in the Moorabool Valley, northwest of Geelong, on a site with viticultural roots stretching back to 1874. Biodynamic farming and minimal intervention in the winery have been central to the Lethbridge philosophy from the outset — the belief that the best wines express the unique character of the places they come from.
